Getting about by Train
If you have only a few days for sightseeing, don't try to rush about. Quality is more important than quantity.
For example, I landed in Paris at 1pm and took the train to Limoges. It took 4 hours from 5pm. I thought I had filled in an on-line booking form for a hotel in Limoges and I could check in at 9pm. When I got there, they said they hadn't received it.
Everybody goes on holiday in the summer. In France, you can only find rooms at motorway hotels in July and August. It's better to travel in the spring or autumn.
Once you find a hotel, explore the town on foot. But you can also day-trip to nearby towns. Please note that trains leave on time and you should get to the platform early.

B: Il part à neuf heures.
A: Combien d'heures dure le trajet?
B: Il dure à peu près deux heures.

B: Il y a un train qui part à neuf heures trente.
A: D'accord, je le prends.
B: Est-ce que vous voulez un aller-simple ou un aller-retour?
A: Un aller-retour, s'il vous plaît.
B: Quand voulez-vous revenir?
A: Je voudrais revenir ce soir.
B: Bon, il y a un train qui part à dix-huit heures trente. Voulez-vous voyager en deuxième classe?
A: Oui.
B: Ca fait 14 euros.
A: Merci beaucoup.

A: Return, please.
B: When would you like to come back?
A: This evening.
B: OK, there's a train leaving Dover at 6:30pm. Would you like to travel first class or second class?
A: Second class.
B: That will be nine pounds, please.
A: Thanks.
